I haven't heard this mysterious woman's music since the late nineties...I remember how graceful she always was in her appearance, her micro braids always neat, a touch of sadness in her eyes, and always a touch of Afrika in her choice of clothing..always a lady.
Khadja was born in Burundi 42 years ago, she comes from a family of 8 children, her dad was a diplomat. Late in her teens she moved to Zaire to pursue an education where she met her deceased hubby. From her marriage she says that they were happy running a hotel for tourists in the village area until his
sudden death .
He left her w/a son w/whom she moved to Belgium .
It wasn't an easy transition at first , u know how it goes as an immigrant...little jobs here and there. Fate came knocking on its time of course in the person of her producer and writing partner Nicolas Fizman. He believed in her and pursued her career w/her she was fairly known until TV Channel TF1 gave her great exposure in 1996 (that sounds abt right , it's around that time that i was introduced to her )..and her hit "Sambolera"caught everybody's attention the rest is history.
She's today a UNICEF Ambassador, 1 singer and 1 mummy...
Here's a video clip:(her videos are always so tasteful and creative by the way)
