I love her voice and passion when she sings
Malouma is the 1st woman to introduce Modern Mauritanian music in a country where traditions are very much so respected. I am not quite sure if she's born to the Iggawin 's cast -which is the Griot cast ..but she was taught at a young age the art of praise through singing.
Through her music nourished by the sounds of guitar strings she takes us on a journey btw traditions and modernism. She's not afraid to be different from the other Mauritanian artists. At the mismo she's also a social activist , who stands for women rights , campaigns against AIDS , promotes a higher level of education...and guess what she's Senator as well.
This will def' allow her to fight on better grounds...and be a part of the change.
This divorced mother of 4 gives me hope in thinking that we can be anything we want 2 be if we put our heart 2 it.
Here's 1 video of her both at the Senat and on scene, go aunty:
Djaa Mauritanian Women are strong :)
