Faustin Linyekula
Faustin Linyekula
Faustin Linyekula was born and found his passion for dancing in his native Congo. He studied both theater and literature in his hometown of Kinshasa before moving to Nairobi where w/other artists they created the first Kenyan dance company"Gaara". His career took him to various creative places such as South Africa, France ,Slovenia..ect where he bettered his craft . Around the year 2000, he moved back home where he founded his dance company & shared his talent w/other artists that he mentored . He performs all throughout the world and is currently in LA for those Art lovers who live in that area maybe you should go check him out.
Some of his most famous pieces are "Le Festival des Mensonges","Spectacularly Empty","Telle une ombre gravee dans la poussiere"...
Of course gotta add that his pieces are a bit avant-gardiste...not everyone will get it, me first, but I think that you can admire and respect art without particularly loving it..
His themes are for the most part socio-post congo political crisis....
You can see some of his work on this video clip:
If you wanna more about him and his talented team of dancers, here's their webbie:
http://www.kabako.org/ (gotta add that I love w/artists take their webbies seriously like him and give plenty of info, it makes me believe that they are serious about their crafts)
