Hey guys I hope you waved your flags yesterday during the kick off ceremony:)
I watched parts of it yesterday and I was impressed by the unity of the people in the stadium, the pride in their colors, the smiles, the joy, the excitement ..it made me want to be thereee.
I loved Angelique Kidjoe's performance of course ..you know I love her. Alicia Keys did a great job re-visiting some of her old top songs , Tinarew was true to themselves..they brought tradition to the stage..Shakira, K'Naan did awesome..I'm sure they must feel relieved by now..everybody was waiting for them...and expecting great things and they delivered :)

I also wanted to share my deepest condoleances with Mr Nelson Mandela and his family as they lost his great grand daughter yesterday to an unfortunate car accident after the kick off ceremony..R.I.P Zenani (she was just 13 years old..sad)

In other news, there are 6 African nations represented at the FIFA 2010:
-Nigeria
-Algeria
-South Africa
-Ghana
-Ivory Coast
-Cameroun

Today South Africa is playing against Mexico. Wishing them a whole lot of luck..:)
Wil keep u posted anyways!!

THE AUTHOR OF "AYA DE YOPOUGON GIVES BACK TO HER IVOIRIAN COMMUNITY THROUGH LIBRARIES!

Marguerite Abouet
They help the children with their homework
The library in Abidjan

I love this pic of this little girl reading a book

Not only am I a fan of the "Aya de Yopougon" comic book series but I'm also a fan of the humanitarian author behind her, Marguerite Abouet. By the way if you haven't heard, the 5th volume of the sensational l Aya D.Y series came out, grab it, grab it!!

I love that Marguerite didn't stop at her blooming litterature career but went one step above by giving back to her community . Marguerite wanted children to grow up loving litterature, each one of these libraries that she is in the process of building will be equiped with computers , internet connection children monitors which will lead ateliers/workspops. In each one of these free libraries, children will find the peace and quiet to do their homeworks, they'll find novels, dictionaries, games ect.

She opened her first library in Abidjan, and plans to open as many as possible in other parts of Ivory Coast and Africa as a whole.
What I love about her story is that she never planned the success of Aya, all she knew is that she wanted to write a story abt her experience as an Ivoirian. She wrote couple of pieces , showed to her friend and cartoonist/co-writer Clement Oubrerie, he liked drew a bit , showed it to her , and the rest is history.

Wishing her the best:)

Christianne King on her beautiful day wearing her own design...:)
Heyyy my people, and another fabulafricana on Project Runway starting January 14th at 10:00 PM..hopefuly she'll do as well or even better than Liberian fabulafricana Korto Momolu.Christianne hails from Abidjan,la ville du chaud meme koi:)
She hand-sewed her first garment at the age of 15 years old, she loves colors, she knew the first time that she was Project Runway that she belonged on that platform, she loves living in LA. Her fav' designers are Marchesa and Balenciaga. She considers herself to be very creative and versatile. As you know contestants have different challenges to face, she would hate to deal with is any menswear related challenges.
She's a huge fan of Lady Gaga , Charlize Theron, Angella Bassett and Jada Pinkett Smith. If she was to pick a challenge it would be the grocery store one, as she thinks that she would be able to show her creativity.
