THE SOUTH AFRICAN CHILDREN CHOIR AD FOR GAP!

As I was strolling down 6th Ave and 48Th street I stopped for 1 second 2 look at the beautiful faces of the children of the South African choir in a rather large poster among the faces of Wyclef and daughter, Natalie from the Dixie Chicks and children, Terrence and children..ect

It was a proud moment 2 see these African children part of this campaign..u know me by now I am curious....so put my snoopy glasses on and went hunting..

So I was surprised to hear that this program was actually started in Uganda by an Irish Minister by the name of Ray Barnett..following his trips to Uganda he was looking for 1 way to reach International hep and in 1984 had the brilliant idea 2 bring a few children from Uganda to America , have them sing..and thought maybe if people saw they would understand and would help...guess what he was absolutely right..

This African choir has been going on strong every year since 1984, have even seen some of its children go to college ect...

The cool thing is that every year a new set of children are trained and taken out 2 the Western world on this tour..must be such an enriching experience for these children...

They tour go on campaigns, celebrities events..ect..most of all these campaigns help create schools in Uganda,Sudan, Rwanda, Naja,Ghana and South Africa...
