Hello All, hope you had an awesome weekend!!

Aight some of you may have heard about him, and some others just like myself are just discovering the New Rice For Africa technology concept & project.

It was lead by Monty Jones who was the recipient of the World Food Prize in 2004 for his efforts into creating a mixed type of rice ;African/Asian.

Both of type of rices have great characteristics that are complimentary-

the Asian is high in yielding and African rice is robust so those 2 combined bring 1 type of rice that is strong, can resist and grow during

the worst dry seasons ..etc...

Interesting.. NERICA helps farmers in the sense that it takes them less time to grow rice and also it increased the yielding by 6-7 t/ha....

Dr Monty Jones who is currently the Executive Secretary of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) was also honored this past year as 1 of the most influential people of the world...great hun.
