Caricature of Lansana Conte as a man thirsty for power
Picture taken in 2003 during the elections..however my question is are these real supporters ???
History repeats itself once again..!!(Tx Saran for some of the explanations)
Why is it that some our African leaders don't have the common sense to leave the power when it's been more than HIGH TIME.
Lansana Conte has been holding on to his title of President since he took the power by coup d'etat in 1984..do the math it's been 23 LONG YEARS OF CORRUPTION..
As of last year GUINEA was ranked by the Transperency International agency as being the
MOST CORRUPTED COUNTRY IN AFRICA (no wonder why sometimes peeps refuse who live abroad , refuse to go back to their country...)
MOST CORRUPTED COUNTRY IN AFRICA (no wonder why sometimes peeps refuse who live abroad , refuse to go back to their country...)
Anywhoo, this is the 3rd general strike that the country is facing theses past 2 years.
However this time seems a bit more contrevorsial, since the death of 5 people already during the demonstrations...
THE GUINEAN PEOPLE ARE JUST FED UP WITH LANSANA & WANT HIM OUT
THE GUINEAN PEOPLE ARE JUST FED UP WITH LANSANA & WANT HIM OUT
(2 be blunt)...
Among their complaints; they seek higher wages for city workers, they demand the
banning of police corruption (child ,don't all our African countries suffer from it ..I'm gonna have to devote an entire post to that eventually), lower fuel prices...bottom line they want better standards of living...!!

Conte at his turn is now offering to lower the fuel prices, diminushing food exports...
but NO , his people are not having it.
The other problem that Guinea and foreign investors are facing is the problem of the
BAUXIT EXPORT...indeed Guinea is the world's largest exporter of bauxite . It provides bauxite to Canadian, European and African companies..this strike is def' affecting all in the global economy.
Well let's hope that things will get better, even though insiders are pointing towards a COMPLICATED SITUATION..
