FATOU BIRAMAH-URBAN TOGOLESE STREET POET

See there are contemporary & funcky writters out there..lol

Her first novel

Negresse!

We as African people...African women keep astounishing me over and over again...

So i just discovered Fatou Biramah from Togo (big up to groovylady & sarah ) "an urban writter" .She defines herself first of all as a woman before being a Togolese woman born in France...

Fatou choses to co-write her autobiography in the novel "Negresse" where she depicts her trouble into defining herself as An African woman living in France, her troubled youth and her many unhappy love encounters in the french hip hop industry... She also has another novel called " Confessions d'1 Salaud" (Asshole..lol)
I'll say she def' a voice that needs to be heard in this Pan-African society

ZINEB SEDIRA-ALGERIAN PHOTOGRAPHER AND DEEP THINKER

Zineb at 1 of her expo'

"Don't do to her what you did to me" I don't have the official explanation of this photo..but the black color def' conveys dispair and pain..how about y'all?

Deep..deep "Portrait of Virgin Mary" ..dont know if it's too daring or not..but def' out there

Love this 1 ..."Jins" In Islam we call Jins ... spirits..long explanation...I'll talk about it in another post

La Maison de Ma Mere

CONFLICTED...REBELLIOUS...ADAMENT ABOUT HER TRUTH.... PROUD!!

Were all the words I was left with after admiring Zineb's work. Born in 1963 in France of traditional Muslim Algerian parents. Just like any individual who's born in the west, Zenib is a little conflicted between both cultures..

In my opinion* (please remenber that it's just my own) she is at turns rebellious against some Islamic and tradional aspects and proud to the P of her of her parents and origins...

Another interesting thing to me is that she's 1 of the few artists that I know who loves her own camera, most people hide behind their lenses but she plays the game with great zeale...

HUN INTERESTING!

Love the outfit..rock on:)

Liya de sortie in town:)

See I admire that quality that some human beings have to not be complacent...
the Ethiopian model Liya Kebede is the perfect example of that...
We all know her for her beautiful signature face and her career in fashion.

she could have just settled on having a satisfying career , a beautiful son & hubby and $$..

But she wanted more than that, she wanted to give back to people who have less than her.

Alarmed by the high rate of death of women during pregnancy and child birth she decided to set up the LIYA KEBEDE FOUNDATION...which goal is to reduce "maternal newborn and child mortality and to improve the health and well being of mothers and children around the world"...

This summer she travelled to her homecountry of Ethiopia with the WHO to see herself the problems and the solutions being slowly implemented...

Anywhoo for more info on her and her work:

It's a known fact that most models find it to be an honor to be asked to model at the annual Victoria Secret Show..matter of fact back in the days, it was really rare to even see a black face on the VSFashion Show..slowly but surely, people like Naomi, Tyra and Alek were asked to do the show..but here comes the new generation in African sistas such as Oluchi and Ajuma...
