"Humility is to make a right estimate of oneself"
Harry Truman
For those of you living in Dakar Senegal , I hope you took the chance to attend the Afrikakeur Festival, yesterday I went to the CCF and discovered les
gos du Farafina Mousso.
Fatim, Gina, Ndiaya, Angelique
4 young ladies, 4 distinctives personalities, great sound, Senegalese feminism, sexyness, consciousness, those are the words that come to mind when I think about the Farafina Mousso..
They were poised yet vivacious, head scarves on their heads, had their make up going, and wore shades of black, white and red...one wore high heels, the other sneakers, one sandals, one open toes heels..
one is skinny and dark, one is curvacious, the other had long dreads , the last just in the middle,African women period!!
Their voices and delivery styles are a bit different... I really likes Ndiaya's , it felt like she was holding back a bit in order to let the others shine, Fatim is the hype chick of the group she was loud, Angelique & Gina are both a bit more laid back...
They sang about of course feminism, slavery, children's rights...really really nice... They're working on their album but for now you can discover them on their myspace page:
