TANZANIA REJOICE..AFRICAN WOMEN REJOICE!
One of us has been appointed to the prestigious and crucial position of
Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations.

At the still young age of 51 (hey 50 is the new thirty) the beautiful Mrs.Asha Rose Migiro has had up to this point a beautiful and rich career as a the Minister of Community Development, Gender and Children's Affairs from 2000 to 2006, and in 2006 she was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Before her start in politics, she was a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law @ the University of Dar Es Salam..

What strucks me about her academic journey she did most of her studies, in Tanzania and the remaining in Germany.

She counts among her many supporters in office, none other than Condolleza Rice,
Mr. Azali Assoumani the President of the Comoros Islands who spent a great deal of time w/her when he visited Tanzania.
And of course her n0. uno fan, is none other than her boss and past fellow homologue,
Mr Ban- Ki -Moon the actual Korean Secretary of State. This will not be the first time they work together, they've had the chance to appreciate each other while both of them were ministers of foreign affairs of their respective countries.

He said to this effect: "She is a highly respected leader who has championed the cause of developing countries over the years...Through her distinguished service in diverse areas, she has displayed outstanding management skills with wide experience and expertise in socio-economic affairs and development issues".

And this her statement in response to her new responsabilities:

"Being an African, I have first-hand experience to enable me understand the situation facing Africa and developing countries in general. I will be able to use this experience to contribute in effecting developmental changes at the global level,"
"As a minister, I have learned how to deal with new challenges, social or economic, and I will take the same experience to the UN,""

These are some of her tasks :

For those older bachelors, don't waste your time, Dr Asha Rose is married to Prof.Cleophas Migiro and they have two daughters.
