THE HEALTH THING,FABULAFRICANAS!

Pic courtesy of flickr

I went to the gym yesterday and seeing other women in my age group (early 30s) struggling with their weight as I am made me rethink this whole health issue...

I'm not going to say anything new on the subject, there's plenty of information on the subject via the net, mags, book, ur own women conversation but yest' seeing all these beautiful women carrying extra weight me included made me tell myself that we need to take better care of ourselves...

Yes we are all beautiful within our bodies and most import' our spirit but let's be for real
de for real wouldn' t we all want to be healthy and be able to wear whatever we want and not have anything" hanging"?

My number one concern is the health aspect, a lot of older women I've encoutered in Africa deal with arthritis, "tension", heart problems and it's in part due to the way they took care of themselves, I don't know abt u but I would love to be a pretty with grey hair but mostly healthy woman and I know that if I don't take the right decisions now it will only be a dream

Yesterday was a wake up call, I no longer want to dream of being healthy but would like to live it...

So if some of you struggle with the same issue as I do, please let's challenge ourselves together, we can do "a before and after"thing a la Oprah , if you have a successful story on how you changed physically and mentally please share..

Speaking of Oprah, she had a show with Bob Green on weight and health which was quite informative:
Oprah's Confessions abt weight gain (not gossip it's from her tv show)

So My goal this summer is to lose 10 kilos and feel great again not just ok but ...great:)
I also would like to reduce my sweet intake, I'm a "sweet mais alors sweet de sweet person" but it's not working out for me, so I have to find a way to work around it...

While I do, increase my vegies and fruits intake

I guess it's a never ending journey but I would like to be in the driver seat instead of the passenger seat now:)

So fabulafricanas What's your Health goal for this summer?

Here are a few sites to help u reach your goals:
We got to take care of ourselves wayee:)

thank u for doing this. u are so right. Each kg we lose in our young(-er) days is like an investment made for the future when we are old and gray. There are so many advantages to living healthy, so so many benefits that I cant even begin to enumerate here. If at all anything, my body is a temple, God wants me to take care of this body He has given me, to be careful about what I feed it, and how I maintain the beauty that He has given me. I would love to join u on this weight journey for the summer, 10 kilos for the summer is not too far fetched. What has helped me in the past is drinking lots of water during the day, and making sure that I eat only when I am hungry.

What a fantastic post! I think when summer time comes, everyone is thinking about how to get fit. I am definitely trying, as I am also in my early thirties and trying to lose this baby-fat. To support one another, my husband and I have started swimming three days a week, and you won't believe the positive impact this has on your body! Definitely give it a try. My tummy has started to slim down, and my legs haven't been this toned in years. I have also cut down on sweets. The sugar in my morning coffee has been replaced by Splenda, and it makes a huge difference. Finally, water, water, water, makes me feel so much healthier. Good luck to everyone who is working to live a healthier life!
