WORK IT OUT AT LE CLUB OLYMPIQUE DE DAKARCITY -SENEGAL!

I know that Dakar has seen the birth of many gyms but 2 me the Olympic stays the reference, and the Dakarois reference in general I believe when it comes down to tennis.
Born under the great management of the now deceased Camarade Berthe (I still have great memories of this great man , que la terre lui soit legere) this gym is ever evolving.
As we all know not too many Senegalese companies are e-represented.
I know my Senegalese playas..lol..yes I'm calling y'all have all stopped by that gym, either to take a look at what's out there..meaning the ladies..and yes the women are guilty of it too..in my case I plead the fifth...lol..
Non but seriously, ever since I can remember this gigantic gym, and I know that since I've been
to Karda the size has increased offers despite the "not too cheap prices" great classes:
-Taibo
-Karate

Spinning (hello..spinning ..I won't miss my membership to the Health Racket Club..especially the fees )
-Dance
-Swimming
-Basketball courts
-Squash

-Massage Therapy
-Weight Training

They also offer theater ateliers, where are the Senegalese kids on the pics, parents open your children to new things..I know it's expensive...
but better help ur children education than go buy expensive clothing items..
The Fitness Monthly fee is of 18000CFA =40 $ (not so cheapp but hey life is a
choice)
The Member card for swimming, fitness, tennis for 6 months ain't cheap though
: $ 241000 CFA
Anyhoo u pay for what u get rite...more to follow about them
Here's the site:

South African Sun Goddess..1 of my fav' fashion hizzy Xuli Bet for Mali

K.Tassi at the FIMA for Marocco

So the FIMA took place last November, the "fashion baby" of Alphadi the notorious designer from Niger.I've heard, read great things about this festival over the years, it's a great magical meeting for all our fabulous African designers kinda like an African Fashion week without any discrimination btw East, West, South , North and they sometimes invite foreign designers w/a great interest in Africa to the festival.

I heard that this year's event went awesome, w/Alphadi, Haif, Ayissi, Colle Ardo, the lovely Gavin Rajah** ..and many many more.

The other cool thing this year is that they added a Hip Hop Festival; the FIMA is conscious of the influence of that form of art on the youth..and wanted to give them a musical platform..cool rite.

Anywhoo here's the official webbie:

Is that your chick?

Afro chick!

I love featuring African women , because 1 it motivates us to see ourselves beautiful , it inspires to be like dang let me take care of myself a bit better, it's nice 2 see someone from our land reprisenting our beauty.

These African models like Abang have a story 2 tell just like any of us.In some case, in Abang's story they start a bit sad w/the killing of her father who was deeply engaged in politics .

Our stories turn dramatic when Abang who was used to a certain level of financial comfort had to live in refugee camps before regaining bit by bit her life when she moved to Australia.
Now at 25 she's accomplished a lot w/the enthusiasm of someone who's lost it all , know that life is uncertain but that we have to live it fully.

She's a model, a Red Cross Ambassador, you may even have seen her in the Matrix Reloaded..hello snap for her:)

She has a great hunger of life and a great personality which makes her a celeb w/ a purpose in Australia.

Go Abanggg , I'll be watching for ya:)

LA JOLIE GO MALIA-JAZZ SINGER REPPIN FOR MALAWI!

Even her name Malia sounds like a star...Malia was born 29 years ago in Malawi (where are my Malawi people) 2 an English daddy and 1 mother from u guess where..Malawi of course.

When she was a little girl she moved w/her fam' to England, but years later her parents's relationship fizzled..of course as any child dealing w/parent's separation..it was a bit tough for her..right:(

2 make a living before singing fulltime Malia was a waitress, after she met French producer Andre Manoukian..her musical light started shining album after album..

She's honest enough to admit that gaining people's hearts or even finding her own musical identity wasn't easy ..but here she is 3 albums later.. a strong jazzy vocalist a la Nina Simone, Sara Vaughn but still an African queen.

She visited not too long ago her native Malawi and was left w/a greater apreciation of her maternal culture..

Her webbie is:

Here's a little video clip about her and her Art:

RIP DJ MAKHTAR DIOP!

Didn't know him, but it feels like I have , hearing his name on the radio at all time, hearing other young people from D-block talking about attending one of his events, I can't help but be really saddened by his death.
The only thing that makes me feel less sad is 2 know that he lived his life fully, his passion was music and uplifting the youth. Allah , God knows best and I know that Makhtar who was 38 years old has done that , is doing that and will keep doing that.
He has inspired young people who may have not have an outlet on the regular
to dream big, to know that there's something out there for them, and I know that they will never forget him.During his career he has brought french Senegalese artists such as Booba to DKR, bringing him closer to his roots in order to raise funds for the non-profit "L'empire des Enfants".
He has also been the faithful dj of the group of Daraa J who I know must be in deep mourning.
Le journal L'observateur reports that his neighborhood of La Medina was full of people, celebs and non celebs who wanted to come pay him and his family respect.
If you would like to pay him respect, share som', light a candle:
http://djmakhtar-diop.last-memories.com
A young man by the name of Olivier Vuillerme had the wonderful idea to use Facebook as a mean to pay respect to him, if you would like to see the page , here it is:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=7596653827&ref=nf
You can also see him at the back here during a Daraa J concert:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ8zjM6DizI
Also for those of u who will be in Karda on January 3rd 2008, an event is organized to reme
nber him, refer yourselves to that facebook page for more details.
Life is short people, let's take example on Makhtar Diop and live it well!!

Now let's talk about the fashion hizzy by 2 Naija friends (yep naija again..lol..the rest of Africa where are u ..they are taking over..lol) no in all seriousness it's great 2 see two young ladies passionate about fashion,
promoting African clothing and style .
Once upon a time in 2006 our 2 young ladies by the names of
Lola Abiodun & Abisoye Fowora decided to name their business after their birth stones..cute idea...:)

I went through their collections from 2006 to 2007... i see that they are innovative, love the dress ideas, skirts,
love that they dress both mamacitas & skinycitas..lol...no discrimination there

They really put a lot of thought in the details of each item, couple of pieces caught my eyes...

I love that Nigerians support each other's business and dreams, no surprise there 2 see P& R represented at weddings or local nevertheless Nigerian fashion mags...

U be the judge now:
